Let me share publicly a letter just sent to some friends.
This might ring a bell in you, you might develop ideas, provide us with suggestions and advice, indicate or invite us to “out of the box places” you know.. perhaps you are willing to join us, meet with us , organize something for usor with us, act as a sherpa for us in your area …
Here follows the letter :
Hello friends,
As if I was not appearing fool enough, I am sending you this mail to inform you about my latest folly.
As Ville Keränen (see http://fi.linkedin.com/in/monkeybusiness) announced me he was is coming to Central Western Europe (as the Finns call our area) for a few days, the idea emerged to try out something new: an “Improvised Learning Expedition” .
When: From Sunday 7th November starting in Strasbourg, to Wednesday 10th November ending in Amsterdam
Where: Wherever serendipity leads us towards. Germany, France, the UK, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg…
When did we decide this venture: This morning over the phone at 8 AM CET (9.00 Finnish Time)
Our goal: To learn how to enhance serendipitous learning occasions with an absolute minimum of planning:
1. learning from each other,
2. learning from encountering as many interesting people as we can – people we already know, people we don’t yet know,
3. Learning from visiting “out of the box” places, surprising places, world class social and other initiatives
4. Learning from crossing borders and cultures,
5. Learning from prototyping and testing new concepts, …
6. Learning how to turn everything we encounter into learning, fun, relationships, connections, innovations, friends, money, projects, ideas, knowledge, networks, whatever…
Means: minimal, frugal, ecological, Transport by car, train, no flights, Other (bicycles in Holland?)
Who: Ville and Charles are staring, but everyone is welcome in joining us, for whole or part of the trip.
We are happy to accept invitations that will promote our goal
So there we are: We are sending this to you, because perhaps this might ring a bell in you, you might develop ideas, provide us with suggestions and advice, indicate or invite us to “out of the box places” you know.. perhaps you are willing to join us, meet with us , organize something for usor with us, act as a sherpa for us in your area …
This is it for now. I am very curious to experience what your reactions to this might be.
Cheers to you all,
The explorer team Ville and Charles
PS: Ville is coaching a Team Mastery Course in Strasbourg. He’s travelling today. He will be reasonably out of touch, except perhaps via SMS on his phone number +358407312084, and via mail ville@banana.fi
I will be more available so the preferred contacts are probably through me.

Hi Charles and gang,
Enjoy your trip and meetups.
You asked for any suggestions: if at home and weather is grim, try a virtual tour. Skype people with video or meet freely at Junto alpha http://junto.cc
Félicitations au nouveau “Lièvre de Vatanen” !!!
Hi Charles, Ville,
Great news!
Ssyncronicity is getting down on us, remember well our one-hour talk on the flight from Oman towards Frankfurt back in April 2008
Great to hear you approaching towards Dresden and http://CoOrpheum.com in a few days time. Looking really forward to seeing you two here in beautiful Dresden with mindful creative people around moving from arts/culture, social innovation toward technological innovation.
Have a save trip and awaiting Tuesday afternoon
Ralf
Only two more days, it is almost like Xmas and Easter together seeing you guys in beautiful Dresden on Tuesday afternoon at http://CoOrpheum.com, Kamenzer Straße 19, Dresden Neustadt.
How did we arrive where we are and to what next steps our passion about collective learning will pull us from Tuesday on?
I would like to share just some thoughts:
Moving across multi-disciplinary communities and cultures for over 30 years, made it happen to connect to MIT in 2006, meeting the other MIT folks like PeterSenge, EricVonHippel, JayForrester, OttoScharmer (not yet personally) and felt some sort of connectivity right from the beginning. The openess of MIT campus (24/7 you can enter almost all main buildings, free access to WiFi across campus – even for non-MIT members, so you get a sense what open education can mean in the beginning).
What could emerge on Tuesday?
Co-creating a free-floating blended version of collective learning and see what will flow out of our minds.
Open to explore the future
Good morning Charles, Ville,
Looking forward to seeing you today in Dresden at CoOrpheum
)
Safe journey and lots of serendipity!
Best regards, Ralf

Charles, Ville,
It has been an exceptional honor and joy to see you both in Dresden on Tuesday. Unbelievable what happened – to be quite frank almost too much happened in too little time on Tuesday.
We have captured the thoughts we experienced with ConstanceWolter, SoerenRogoll, RalfLippold, and you two on http://bit.ly/aSlxJe (http://livestream.com/CoOrpheum
I will post a longer post on my blog with what is racing through my mind.
Thanks so much Charles and Ville for stopping by in Dresden on your improvised learning trip through Germany
Ralf
